This Month’s Presenting Communities

Tierra Nueva Cohousing

California

We are a multi-generational community set in a beautifully landscaped avocado orchard on California’s Central Coast. While we live in a private, quiet, safe setting, our neighbor, Pismo Beach, is a bustling travel destination with fun-filled activities and stunning views of the ocean. Even the monarch butterflies love coming here every year. Our 27 homes are passive solar designed, our Common House incorporates solar energy, and members are welcomed to participate in the community garden.

Milagro Cohousing

Arizona

Milagro Cohousing is a multigenerational neighborhood of 28 households clustered on eight of our 43 acres in the Tucson Mountains. Our mission is to create community living which values consensus decision making in a nurturing environment, encouraging the contribution and growth of each individual. We value living in an environmentally friendly way that is sustainable.

Burns Village & Farm

Tennessee

A group has formed to build a community in Burns, TN, about 25 miles west of Nashville, TN. We are planning for 28-35 homes and a 2-acre farm, with five wooded acres to be undeveloped. We have a contract on the land which has been owned by one family for four generations. They are supportive of our plans for this community. The 15-acre parcel includes an oak tree estimated to be centuries old, and frontage on a small stream. Private homes, a mix of single family and multi-family structures, will be clustered around shared spaces and designed to encourage interaction and social cohesion.

Loved by Community Builders

What a beautiful gift to our intentional community builders and leaders! FIC’s programs provide a way for thinking and concerned people to collaborate for solutions to our multitude of global crises. Thank you FIC! – Terri Garcia

I am constantly impressed by the down-to-earth practicality of the FIC workshops combined with the philosophical questions that are so vital for us to explore. I’m grateful for the excellent planning and delivery of the workshops by skilled and inclusive presenters, who create a space that is both welcoming and invites participants to challenge existing ideas and world views. Well done and thank you FIC. – Claire Ogden
