Meet a diversity of communities during the Virtual Tour of Communities July 2023. From secular to spiritual, urban and rural, forming and established — get a vibrant taste of the communities movement without leaving your armchair!
What you get from the Virtual Tour experience:
A multigenerational community living, learning and working in British Columbia, Canada. We share our material, social and spiritual riches and collectively celebrate and honour life’s mysterious journey. We are creating a residential eco-village by collectively purchasing and developing land that provides sustainable housing, community facilities, agricultural potential and a beautiful setting for a diverse group of families.
Terra Frutis is a vegan intentional community in southeast Ecuador situated where the Andes mountains meet the Amazon rainforest. Together we are creating a permaculture food forest in former cow pasture. We do this to grow food for ourselves, for the community around us, and we hope to inspire other permaculture, reforestation and food sovereignty projects big and small. We govern our community with consensus oriented decision making, and resolve conflicts using non-violent communication. We have options for rent, work exchange, and plots of land for sale that can be built on. Joining the community involves an 11+ month trial period, after which the newcomer may be accepted as a permanent member of the community.
A developing community in South Dakota based on 2016 graduate research measuring community leadership support for launching a feasibility study on using Intentional Living communities to help mitigate homelessness in Rapid City, SD region. This 3 to 4 phase launch remains at the starting gate. Phase 1 will be building the CORE Community and its businesses which will work to build and support two additional Intentional Communities.

“This is my first exposure to intentional living situations. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the possibilities and the underlying thinking that informs this kind of living choice. The presenters were excellent. It was great to see the different settings and to hear the various questions related to these three living situations. Thank you so much for this presentation.”
-Leslie Slate
“Great photos and narratives about the philosophy and diversity of communities. I learned about thinks I didn’t know and was given the opportunity to ask all my questions, which were answered in a comprehensive manner.”
