About the Community

What we do

We’re looking to connect with others who feel called to live off-grid and co-create something meaningful. We’re stewards of 615 acres of beautiful, wild land near Thunder Bay. Our vision is to cultivate an intentional space focused on healing, nature, and wellness-with a deep respect for the land. We own this land and it is in an unorganized township. Community members will live in their own private area as we like our privacy yet have the support of the community, including the occasional gathering, events and offerings. At the heart of this sanctuary will be a geodesic dome offering food and wellness programs. A part-time forest school and schools will visit to nurture the next generation (check out Roots & Branches Forest School), we aim to grow food year-round. A few areas will be available for others to live on the land, and we’d love to offer long-term lease options to those who resonate with our values. Each home will be spaced out to maintain privacy, while still fostering a sense of shared purpose and community. We’re currently building our cabin, which will eventually become the welcome house or steward’s lodge (maybe it could even become yours one day). Plans also include a large Mongolian yurt for sound healing and workshops, a community kitchen, and a maker’s space. We’ve been given the chance to restore and protect this land and are committed to keeping it as one intact parcel-so selling isn’t an option. But we’re open to leasing areas for aligned individuals or families to build and live, co-creating something rooted in trust and mutual support. We don’t have all the answers yet, and we’re open to suggestions that fit the spirit of this place-off-grid, outside the system, and heart-led. We’re currently seeking hands-on support with: Cabin construction, Renovate old sauna to get it working, Clearing brush and trails, Cleaning up old debris and homestead areas, Building bathrooms, Helping set up sites for tiny homes, domes or yurts, Maintaining the land (gardens, water systems, firewood, etc.), Miscellaneous labor, Tools, trades, machinery a plus! Grant writing, financial support There’s no well yet (just two old dug ones that may not be usable), but we do have a small lake, which we aim to keep natural and protected. Potential living sites are 1-5 minutes from the water. The land includes boreal forest, birch, tamarack, pine, poplar, and areas that were logged 30 years ago. Wildlife is abundant-moose, heron, beavers, wolves, and yes… black flies too. We’re grounded people who love breathwork, sound healing, meditation, and music. We’re awake to the matrix but not ruled by fear. We’re a committed and loyal couple, not interested in anything other. While we respect plant medicines used intentionally, we ask that there be no drug use or heavy drinking. A casual drink now and then is okay-but we’re definitely not a party space.

Our Mission

Interested in Joining Us? Here’s one idea of how land-sharing might work: One-time buy-in: $25,000 Long-term land lease: $10,000 per acre (1-5 acres) for a renewable 5-year term Monthly lease: $200-$750 depending on land size Buy-in and lease costs could be paid over time, or partially exchanged through work-trade All residents would contribute at least 12-48 /month minimum to the community. We will have mutual agreed upon access to community areas for personal use only. We suggest a 3-6 month mutual trial period to make sure it’s a good fit for everyone. We know this isn’t a one-size-fits-all kind of dream, so we welcome thoughtful suggestions or alternative models you think could work. What matters most to us is shared values, a love for the land, and a willingness to co-create something beautiful and lasting. If this speaks to you, we’d love to hear from you. Please message us your email and we will send you application form.
