This community, the Grateful Heart Garden, is forming and looking for members and land. So far, the vision is the following: The founder will buy a muti-family property with 3-4 existing housing units in Berkeley, Oakland, Orinda, Walnut Creek, Palo Alto, San Francisco, Benicia, Lafayette, Davis, or somewhere else entirely. Install solar systems if possible, and plant a wide variety of fruit trees and vegetable beds for community gardening. Members pay monthly rent. Optional weekly activities could include gardening, communal dinner, singing, music and art creation space, dancing, theater, storytelling, board games, etc.
The Grateful Heart Garden strives to live according to its principles by living in harmony with the Earth, the members and neighbors. The qualities of kindness, generosity, unselfishness, and willingness to work together are key.
Please call, text, or email so we can set up a Zoom or in-person interview. As the community builds, all current members will be on the Zoom call to interview each new member. My hope is that families with children will join the community.
A single person, couple, or small group makes most major decisions.
Primary authority rests with the community’s founder(s) or designated leader(s).
