What we do

We are a small egalitarian community holding a shared landbase and vision. We share labor and income, childcare, businesses, gardens, community space, and more. The land is held legally by Oran Mor Community, owned by the members.
Our farm and community was established in 2003, and began the process of reforming in 2020. Oran Mor is on 113 acres in the magical rolling hills and hollars of Ozark County, MO.
We are really into growing food forests, in harmony with annual vegetables and herb gardens. Landrace promiscuous gardening is a passion. We work to put the principles of Permaculture into daily practice, using clean energy resources, committing to minimalism, and repurposing n recycling the best we can. We are committed to minimize our reliance on fossil fuels and electricity as much as possible, while still living life to the fullest with ease and comfort. Dedication, simplicity, passion, and peace.
Our commitment to living simply translates to many lifestyle choices here. Our main communal building runs on mostly solar power, so we minimize electricity consumption. No A/C but we do run a fan and dehumidifier! We have a trailer connected to the grid that powers some things around the farm. We do a lot of our cooking on woodfires year round, and sometimes use a propane stove. Our laundry is done by hand and dried on clothes lines or sometimes we do it at the laundromat. We plan to invest in a small washing machine we can run on solar. Our dishes are done by hand using propane or wood to heat. We do have a shower house in the main community building with on demand hot water. It is a commitment of time and effort to live this way, and we feel it is rewarding and pays off. We love life and we have fun and nourish our spirits daily through our devotion.
We offer a wide range of skilled and unskilled work experiences in gardening, cooking, canning, fermentation, natural building, primitive pottery, forestry, maintenance, and more. We have an ongoing need for alternative, ecologically aware construction, organic permaculture style gardening, home and land improvement, and hard workers with thoughtful conversations.
Length of stay is negotiable. We are accepting new members. Meals are communal. WWOOFers will be expected to attend daily priority meetings and to take an active part in chores and projects. Opportunities are available year ’round. Transportation is available to nearby towns. Children and pets are welcome with prior approval.
Alcohol is enjoyed occasionally. Some of us smoke cannabis.
