What we do

Dandelion Commons is a forming ecovillage in Northwest Arkansas. We are currently working together to save money for land while living together in a duplex home. We project that we will purchase land in late 2027 or early 2028 in a rural area south of Fayetteville, AR but within 30 minutes of the city.

Our Vision

Our mission is to create a shared space where anyone can access affordable, thoughtful housing that has a positive impact on the land and environment.

How to join

New members are welcome! We are drafting community by-laws, which will guide the induction of new members into the community.

Basic expectations or agreements for members

We are currently in the planning phase and cannot take visitors to stay in our home, but we welcome you to visit the area and have dinner with us!

Primary decision-making authority

  • Small Leadership Group

A few people (not elected by the broader community) make the major decisions.

Governance structure

  • Collaborative/Horizontal

Power and responsibility are shared relatively equally among members.

Economic model

  • Partial Income-Sharing

Members contribute a percentage of income to community funds.

Economic scenarios for this community

  • There is a one-time fee, investment, or share purchase to join the community separate from accessing housing
  • Members need to pay fees, dues, or similar to live there on a per month or per year basis
  • There is a labor obligation

Additional economic information

Join fee: $1000
Monthly fees/dues: $250
Labor required: 5 hours/week
Members with pre-existing debt: Yes (some debt)
The community economics is subject to change as we grow. Currently, anyone who would like to join in saving for land only needs to contribute whatever they can each month. For our current group, we are saving about $1,000 each month collectively. We expect that monthly amount to grow over the next year. In the future, we will ask that new members invest an initial amount, tentatively $1,000, to show their commitment to the community. However, this is subject to discussion and consensus among the existing members at the time who will approve each new member and make exceptions based on need.

Shared resources and amenities that are accessible to everyone in the community

Common House, Garden(s), Vehicle Share, Library, Workshop, Fire pit, Internet

Frequency of communal meals

  • Approximately 1 meal per day

Substance use culture

  • Substance use occurs primarily at celebrations or ceremonies
